On this page, we provide all the explanation on how to create an effective landing page that is suitable for both readers and search engines. Landing pages contribute to search engine optimization for your website.

Heading 2 - as an optional intro above a paragraph

Here is space for a paragraph of text (body text) on the page. Make sure that each paragraph contains a maximum of about 7 lines of text and the length of the text block is never more than 2/3rd of the width of your screen. On mobile this obviously does not apply. When formatting texts, you can give them extra value or make them stand out by displaying them in bold, italics or with a deep link. A summary of important points reads pleasantly and is also viewed positively by search engines.

Based on the previous paragraph, we can thus summarize the following:

  • Paragraphs maximum about 7 lines of text
  • Width of text never more than 2/3rds of the width of your screen
  • Bold or italicize text to make it more noticeable
  • Use enumeration or numerical list to point out items point by point

Any subsequent paragraph or subparagraph will appear below.

Heading 3 - Optimization of images

An accompanying image next to or between the text provides the desired variety and visual support. An image can be optimized in the following ways:

  1. A file name that describes what you see in the image
  2. A reduced/compressed version of the image
  3. An alt tag (bar you see when mouse-over)
  4. Optional caption and contextual text

Heading 3 - Amount of text and keyword density.

There are many discussions about the amount of text on a landing page. From experience, pages should contain at least 500 words, however, there are plenty of examples where important pages contain texts of 2,000 words. For a good landing page, we recommend +/- 500 words in which the most important keywords recur +/- 25x (5% keyword density). For your information, this page contains a total of 565 words.

Heading 2 - A list of internal links

For the benefit of your internal link structure it can be interesting to redirect visitors to relevant pages within your own website. In this way you also retain visitors on your website. You have the possibility to provide pages with a relevant link with the correct link text (anchor text).
